Kailash Satyarthi was born on January 11, 1954 in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh. His name was initially Kailash Sharma, which he later changed to Satyarthi. After completing his schooling from Vidisha, he obtained a degree in electrical engineering from here. In addition, he holds a master’s degree in high-voltage engineering. After completing his studies, he also worked as a teacher in a college for some time, but his mind did not take long in this work.

Kailash Satyarthi was inclined towards social reform and service from the beginning. In the year 1980, he said goodbye to engineering and became the general secretary of the Bandhua Mazdoor Mukti Morcha. After this, he did a lot of work to protect the rights of children. His work was recognized by the “Save Childhood Movement”. Whose threats were heard all over the world and today their efforts have improved the lives of more than 80 thousand children. They have got better education and better opportunities to live life. One way to measure his work graph is that he has been able to create a network which can be considered as the largest network created by an individual to work for children in the world.

He has been successful in connecting NGOs, teachers and trade unions around the world to his work to improve the lives of as many children as possible. Also, he associated himself with an organization working for children around the world, so that they can reach out to the needy children around the world. He is also a member of the Global March Against Child Labor and its international advocacy body, also known as the International Center on Child Labor and Education.

UNESCO has recognized the work of Kailash Satyarthi and made him a member of the Global Partnership for Education, an organization formed by him, which works for the education of children.
