Installation Process of Rooftop Solar/PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

Photovoltaic panels, often referred to as rooftop solar panels, are installed on the roofs of buildings and connected to the central power supply unit.

This installation reduces reliance on grid-connected electricity, leading to significant cost savings.

Through Net Metering, any surplus energy generated can be sold to electricity distribution companies, resulting in reduced electricity bills.

How to Apply for Rooftop Solar Scheme/PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

The application process for PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana involves the following steps:

Visit the official website of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana: https://pmsuryaghar.gov.in/

Click on the ‘Apply for Rooftop Solar’ button on the homepage.

Select the state, district, and electricity distribution company, and enter your customer account number.

Provide your mobile number and email, and follow the instructions to complete the registration.

Log in with your customer account number and mobile number.

Apply for the ‘Rooftop Solar’ as per the form.

Await feasibility approval from DISCOM after applying for Rooftop Solar. Upon approval, proceed to install the plant through a registered vendor in your DISCOM.

Submit the plant details and apply for a net meter after the installation is complete.

Following the installation of the net meter and DISCOM inspection, a commissioning certificate will be generated from the portal.

Submit your bank account details and a cancelled cheque via the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana portal to receive the subsidy in your bank account within 30 days.

Stepwise Procedure how to get Subsidy?

Step 1

Register in the portal with the following

  • Select your State & Electricity Distribution Company
  • Enter your Electricity Consumer Number, Mobile Number & Email

Step 2

  • Login with Consumer Number & Mobile Number
  • Apply for the Rooftop Solar as per the form

Step 3

  • Once you get the feasibility approval, get the plant installed by any of the registered vendors in your DISCOM

Step 4

  • Once installation is completed , submit the plant details and apply for net meter

Step 5

  • Commissioning certificate will be generated from the portal, after installation of net meter and inspection by DISCOM

Step 6

  • Once you get the commissioning report. Submit the bank account details and a cancelled cheque through the portal. You will receive your subsidy in your bank account within 30 days.
