He made quite an impression during his freshman and sophomore years, winning awards and putting up some incredible stats. In his junior year, he continued to excel and was even named Player of the Year by the Missouri Valley Conference.

Jake caught the attention of the Chicago White Sox during the top competition of the 2017 MLB draft and was drafted by them. In 2017, he played for two minor league teams, where he had a batting average of .263, hit 5 home runs, and had 29 RBIs in 51 games. He was invited to the White Sox’s spring training in 2018 but unfortunately suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon, which forced him to miss the entire season. In 2019, he couldn’t play due to an injured heel.
